It's interesting to look at the proposed highway's on this 1969 map of Ottawa.  The one in the east skirts along Conroy Road while the western one snakes along Merivale Road.   These roads were eventually built, however, due to delays the eastern proposed highway ended up being further east (Highway 417) and the one to the west - much further west in the shape of Highway 4
